The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting October 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Shelby County Museum located on Pecan Street. The speaker this month will be Mr. Larry Hume.  He will speak to us about the 100th Anniversary of World War I. Everyone is invited to attend.

James “Buddy” Pratt, 71, of Center, Texas, died September 26, 2018 in Nacogdoches. Interment was in White Rock Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born on March 12, 1947 in Center to Jimmy Pratt and Zelma Samford Pratt. He graduated from Center High School. He served his country in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by, Fathers, Jimmy Pratt and Hollis Smith; Mother, Zelma Pratt Smith. Survivors include, Wife, Vicky Pratt of Center; Sons, Eric Pratt & wife Allison of Center, Ryan Pratt of Baytown, Dion Pratt of Houston, Shane Pratt & wife Dena of Mesa, Colorado; Daughter, Dache Pratt Sneath & husband Michael of Sachse, Texas; Sister, Elizabeth Kay Langley of Kilgore.

Alice Fay Brook Oates,79, died September 29, 2018. Musician, cancer survivor, artist and traveler, she is survived by, Husband, Norman of Dallas, Texas; Son, Stephen (Colleen) of Garland, Texas; Daughter, Debbie (John) McGrath of Fox Lake, Il. A memorial service will be held October 7, 2018 at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church, 271 N. Walton St, Richardson, Texas
