The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on November 19, 2019 at 2:00 P. M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. The speaker this month will be Mrs. Merle Howard.  She will speak to us about the Center School Bell. Everyone is invited to attend.

RICHARD DON WHEELER
Richard Don Wheeler, 87, of Ojai, California, died November 6, 2019 of cancer. Interment was in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura, California. He was born January 19, 1932 in Center, Texas and had lived in Ojai 48 years. A Korean War Veteran, after graduating with an engineering degree in electronics he went to work for the Department of Defense Navy Civil Service. He retired as a senior electronic engineer, receiving the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award for improving the fleet's capabilities in electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM), the Navy's third highest honorary award. He was preceded in death by, Father, Don Wheeler; Mother, Barksdale Crenshaw; Step-father, Brian Crenshaw; Sister,. Juanice Powell; Brother, Gilbert Wheeler; Wife, Barbara Wheeler. Survivors include, Wife, Carolyn; Son, Douglas Wheeler of Center, Texas; Daughter, Patsy Daniels of Pine Valley, California; Son, Russell Wheeler of Couer d'alene, Idaho.
