He was born January 21, 1934, in the Silas Community of Timpson, Texas. He attended school in Silas community and later transferred to Timpson graduating high school in 1950. He served in the Texas National Guard. He was preceded in death by,Wife, Nola Jean Stephens Rhodes; Parents, Otis Edward Rhodes and Clara Cardelia Crump Rhodes; Brother, O’Nell (Goat) Rhodes; Sister, Oneida Galbreth Muckelroy.
