OBITUARIES

DARRELL DEAN RHODES
Darrell Dean Rhodes, 89, died Nov. 14, 2023, at Medical Center hospital in Nacogdoches Texas.  Interment was in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born January 21, 1934, in the Silas Community of Timpson, Texas. He attended school in Silas community and later transferred to Timpson graduating high school in 1950.  He served in the Texas National Guard.  He was preceded in death by,Wife, Nola Jean Stephens Rhodes; Parents, Otis Edward Rhodes and Clara Cardelia Crump Rhodes; Brother, O’Nell (Goat) Rhodes; Sister, Oneida Galbreth Muckelroy.  Survivors include, Children, Steven and Rhonda Rhodes of Timpson, Texas, Rickey and Jewel Rhodes of Center, Texas, De’Andrea and Reverend Johnny Johnson of New Caney, Texas.

PETRA ANN EVEREST RISINGER
Petra Ann Everest Risinger, 72, of Timpson, Texas, died November 16, 2023, in Center, Texas.   Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Timpson, Texas.  She was born on October 31, 1951, in Seattle, Washington, to David and Millie Stewart Everest. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Johnny Risinger.  Survivors include, Sons, Tate Brock & wife Debbie, David Brock & wife An, Darrin Minderman & wife Yanira.

RONNIE DeWAYNE GARRETT, SR.
Ronnie Dewayne Garrett, Sr., 60, died November 15, 2023. He was born March 18, 1963 to W.J. and Ella Garrett. Survivors include, Parents, W. J. and Ella Garrett of Center; Sons, Ronnie Garrett, Jr., Marquise Garrett; Daughters, Carmma Anderson, Candus Brooks, Shanya Garrett; Sisters, Janice Hill, Regina Garrett; Brother, Jerry Garrett (Penny).

LINDA VAUGHN
Linda Vaughn, 79, of Center, died November 23, 2023, in Longview.  Interment was in Strong Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born December 26, 1943, in Port Arthur, to Luther Berwick and Violet Dyson Berwick.  She was preceded in death by, Parents; Brothers, Claude “Sonny Boy” Weeks, James “Bubba” Berwick.  Survivors include, Husband, Gordon Vaughn of Center; Sons, Gordon A. DOUGLAS LYNN FANESTIEL
Douglas Lynn Fanestiel, 67, of Center, Texas, died November 22, 2023, in Center.  He was born on July 29, 1956, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to the late Nickolas Fanestiel and Rosalie McClaughlin Fanestiel.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Survivors include, Daughter, Misti Whittley and Michael Young; Son, Brandon Fanestiel and Nikki Moraga; Sister, Nicki Fanestiel.

ELMER ROY BROADUS
Elmer Roy Broadus, 91, of Joaquin, died November 25, 2023, in Joaquin.  Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas.  He was born July 29, 1932, in Joaquin, Texas, to Emmett Ramsey Broadus and Flossie Aquila Wiggins Broadus. He joined the United States Army at 17. After years of serving his country and traveling abroad the world, he relocated to Shelby County.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sisters, Velta Bordner, Gail Broadus, Margaret Walker; Brothers, James Broadus, Bobby Broadus, Elton Broadus.  Survivors include, Wife, Linda Cummings Broadus; Children, Kim Williams & husband Ralph of Benton, Louisiana, Jason Broadus & wife Wendy of Joaquin, Randy Broadus of Nacogdoches, Texas, Toby Broadus of Joaquin, Texas, Bonnie Yount & husband James of Clinton, Arkansas, Amy Clouse & husband Zac of Joaquin, Monica Lawson & husband Matt of Joaquin.

CATHYE BALDWIN
Cathye Baldwin, 75, died November 15, 2023, two days shy of her 76th birthday. She was born in Decatur, Georgia on November 17, 1947, to Winfred Cannon and Hazel Alred Cannon.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, Joe Baldwin; Parents; Sister, Gwyn Jones; Brother, Paul Cannon.  Survivors include, Son, Bob Carmichael, his wife Nikkola, and their children, Nathan, Elena, and Talia; Son, Russ Carmichael and his wife Melanie; her son Philip Carmichael, his wife Jenn, and their children Joshua and Matthew; Ex-husband, Wayne Carmichael and his wife, Suzanne; Brother, George Cannon.

ELZIE RAY RAYMOND
Elzie Ray Raymond, 67, of Center, Texas, died November 24, 2023.  Interment was in Liberty Hill Cemetery, San Augustine County. He was born on February 28, 1956, in Center, Texas, to Boyce Ray Raymond and Betty Lou Parker Raymond.  He graduated from Center High School.  Elzie was preceded in death by, Son, Christopher Lynn Raymond; Parents; Brother, Donald Raymond; Sisters, Cathie Raymond,  Bobbie Gene Golden.  Survivors include, Wife, Margaret Raymond; Children, Elzie Ray Raymond Jr. & wife Jessica, Amy Raymond, Donald Raymond & wife Katherine, Coby Hughes; Bonus Sons, Chris Gaddy , Shane Steitler; Sister, Glenda Smith.

Doretha L. Golding, 88, of Center, died November 25, 2023, in Center.  Interment was in Wimberly Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born January 1, 1935, in Garrett’s Bluff, to Doyle Stewart and Velma Ingram Stewart.  She was preceded in death by, Husband, T. R. JOHN GARY YORK
John Gary York, 80, died November 2023.  Interment was in New Hope Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born on June 30, 1943 in Houston, Texas to John William and Ethel Taylor York. He was a longtime resident of Center, Texas.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Daria Lanette York.  Survivors include, Daughter, Trina Lanae Turgeon of Katy; Brother, Buddy York (David Perry) of Houston.

V. K. Byndom, 85, of Center, died November 27, 2023 at Holiday Nursing Home in Center.  Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Shelby County.  He was born December 17, 1937 to Charlie and Mildred Williams Byndom.  He was preceded in death by, Parents; Spouse, Esterlene Byndom; Sisters, Ovada White, Cassie Cartwright, Frances Land; Brothers, Roy Byndom, Charlie Byndom, Jr.  Survivors include, Son, Keith (Cristy) Byndom of Center; Daughter, Gale Lister; Sisters, Minnie Stansberry, Girtha (Roosevelt) Swindle, Mildred Faye Gardner, Iva Dean (Joe) Boykins; Sister-in-law, Barbara (Clyde) Lister.

BETTY JOYCE GARDNER SANDERS
Betty Joyce Gardner Sanders, 79, of Center, died November 27, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Shelby County.  She was born on September 7, 1944, to the late Clabe Gardner and Annie Redman Gardner in Center, Texas.  Survivors include, Husband, Johnnie Davis Sanders; Children, Valerie Hudson (David) of Texarkana, Sugarman Gardner (Debra), Atoshia “Shanek” Ayers (Howard), Kiara Gardner (Sedarrin), Tkeyah Gardner, Johnnie Sanders (Niko), Jamie Sanders; Brother, Lucky Gardner (Wilda) Center, Texas.
