OBITUARIES


 
EDWARD MARION SHEPHERD
Edward Marion "Shep" Shepherd, 93, died December 10th, 2015 in Lufkin, Texas. He was born on May 23, 1922 in the New Prospect Community in Shelby County, Texas, to Richard Lee Shepherd and Willie Ramsey Shepherd. In 1939, he graduated from Timpson High School. Shepherd was called into the service in 1943, serving in several assignments, before being discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include, Wife, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Hutcherson Shepherd; Sons, George Edward Shepherd & wife, Pamela of Cushing, Oklahoma, Richard Croom Shepherd & wife, Angela of Peachtree City, Georgia.
 
GERALD RAY HUGHES
Gerald Ray Hughes, 77, of Timpson, Texas, died December 16, 2015 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Interment will be in Corinth Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born September 8, 1938, in Center, Texas, to Doyle and Beulah Hughes.
He was preceded in death by, Parents; Wife, Olga Mims Hughes; Son, Billy Hailey; Brothers, Billy Doss Hughes, Marvin Hughes; Sister, Melba Danley. Survivors include: Daughters, Ellen Kennon of Timpson, Patricia Merliss of Dallas, Debbie Golden & husband, R. J. of Center; Daughter-in-law, Jill Hailey of Timpson; Son, David Hailey & wife, Lisa of Timpson; Sisters, Patsy Garrie & husband, Dave of Baytown, Texas, Joann Martin & husband, Gordon or Joaquin, Texas.
