The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting January 16, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Maggie Casto.  She will speak about Frontier Medicine. Everyone is invited to attend.

Louise Faulk Worsham, 92, of Joaquin, died December 28, 2017, in Center. Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. She was born May 28, 1925, in Tenaha, to John T. Holmes and Era Cox Holmes. She was preceded in death by, Husbands, A.D. Faulk, Levis Worsham; Son, Danny Faulk; Son-in-law, Buddy Childress; Parents; Sisters, Vivian Owens, Clara Holmes. Kimberly Ann Sherrod, 50, of New Caney, Texas, died December 28, 2017 in Kingwood. Interment was in Shady Grove Cemetery. She was born on February 22, 1967 in Nacogdoches to Ora Verdell Christopher and Helen Miller Christopher. THOMAS O. DAVIS, JR.
Thomas 0. Davis, Jr., 94, died December 30, 2017. Thomas was born in Center, Texas to Judge T.O. and Ella Mae Davis. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sister, Jeff Warren, Brother, Charles Edward Davis; Wife, Bertie C. Davis. Survivors include, Daughters, Deborah and Kevin Whitsett of Dallas, Texas, Diane and Bill Dunnagan of Spring, Texas. Thomas graduated from Center High School. WW II interrupted his college education. He received a commission as Ensign, U.S.N.R., at the Notre Dame Midshipman School and served with distinction for three years with half of that time in the Pacific Theater. His last assignment was Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. Prestige, an-underwater mine detection vessel.
 
CLIFFORD WAYNE CRAVER
Clifford Wayne Craver, 74, of Huxley, died December 30, 2017 at his residence. Interment was in Wimberly Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born August 5, 1943, in Dyer, Tennessee, to Vincent Ritchey Craver and Flora Lee Sims Craver. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Brother, Milton Eugene Craver. Survivors include, Wife, Judy Craver of Huxley; Children, Vincent Leroy Craver & wife, Barbara, of Richmond , Jessica Randall of Huxley; Brother, Franklin Robert Craver of Waverly, Tennessee.

FORD BROWN, SR.
Ford Brown Sr., 100, died December 31, 2017 at his residence. Interment will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. He was born September 19, 1917, on the Stratton Plantation near present day Clute, Texas, to Perry Maxey Brown and Merle Stratton Brown. Ford was called to serve in World War II as a U.S. Marine. He valiantly and heroically served throughout the Pacific Region and was part of the Invasion of Okinawa, the bloodiest and last battle of the Pacific. He was preceded in death by, Parents, Brothers, Perry Maxey Brown, Dixie Brown; Sisters, Mina Rolbar, Francis Willenberg. Survivors include, Wife, Iva Nell Brown of Center, Texas; Children, Sylvia Brown Hearn of Center, Texas, Ford S.
