The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting March 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Our guest speaker this month will be Mr. Bill O'Neal. Mr. O'Neal is the Texas State Historian and is a well-known author. He has written many books about the history of Texas. He taught history for many years at Panola College. He will be speaking to us about The Alamo. Everyone is invited to attend.

Nelda Liem, 73, of Center, died February 23, 2017 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Center, Texas. She was born August 14, 1943 in Shelby County. She graduated from Center High School in 1960. She was preceded death by, Husband, Dan Liem, Brother, Dewain Halliburton.  Survivors include, Son, Michael Liem of Center; Daughter & Son-in-law, Kim & Kevin Rash of Center; Sisters-in-law, Delores Halliburton, Cherry Parker & husband, Van.

MARJORIE LaFITTE FISHER
Marjorie LaFitte Fisher, 83, formerly of Shelbyville, died February 14, 2017. She was born Marjorie Gay LaFitte in Shelbyville, Texas, on June 5, 1933, to Sam LaFitte, Sr. and Ola Davis LaFitte. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1949. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, Robert P. Fisher; Brothers, Foch LaFitte, Rexta LaFitte, Sam LaFitte, Jr.; Sisters, Erdelle LaFitte Duncan, Lurline LaFitte; Stepson, Gene Fisher. SANDRA KAY SINCLAIR
Sandra Kay Sinclair, 76, of Timpson, died February 28, 2017 at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Interment will be in New Prospect Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born July 16, 1940 in Henderson to Earl Wade and Retha Feazell Adams. She was a U.S. Navy Nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents.
