The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting April 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Shelby County Museum on Pecan Street. Mr. Neal Murphy will be our guest speaker.  His subject will be serendipity. Everyone is invited to attend.

CHARLES DAVID NEEL
Charles David Neel, 93, of Timpson, Texas, died March 30, 2017 at his home. Interment was in Tennessee Cemetery, Shelby County. He was born July 6, 1923 in Tennessee Community, Shelby County, Texas, to Charles Noble and Lettie Holt Neel. David graduated from Joaquin High School. He served his country in the United States Navy and served during World War II. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Daughters, Sandra Ainslie, Susan Woodruff, Pamela McCarty; Six Brothers; Six Sisters; Son-in-law, Hank Wideman. Survivors include, Wife, Evelyn Neel; Daughter, Diana Wideman of Timpson; Stepson, Dennis Conran & wife, Sharon of New Braunfels, Texas; Sons-in-law, Rob McCarty of Hardin, Texas, Don Woodruff of Niagara Falls, New York.

FRANK SMITH HUMPHRIES
Frank Smith Humphries, 92, of the Woods Community, died April 3, 2017, in Carthage. Interment was in Woods Cemetery, Panola County. He was born on Jan. 13, 1925, in Shelby County to Charles Edward and Florence Smith Humphries. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by, Parents; Sisters, Lois Bowden, Louise Adams, Ruby Powell, Earline Burgess; Brother, Edward Humphries. Survivors include, Wife, Jean Bragg Humphries; Son, Charles Ferrin Humphries & wife, Regina of Carthage; Daughter, JoAnn Post & husband, Eddie of Diana; Brother-in-law, Wesley Burgess of Dallas; Sisters-in-law, Mary Cranford of Frisco, Mattie Hughes of Pasadena.

Virginia McDaniel Faulk, 81, of Joaquin, died April 3, 2017, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Interment will be in Lone Cedar Cemetery, Shelby County. She was born June 23, 1935, to Earl Wayne McDaniel and Laura Bell Gray McDaniel. She was preceded in death by, Parents; Husband, James Vernon Faulk; Sisters, Loyce Beach, Earline Cole. Earl Wood, 94, of Center, died April 4, 2017 in Center. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Rusk, Texas. He was born March 5, 1922 in Cornell, Wisconsin to James and Edith A. Wood. He served his country in the U. S. Army at Pearl Harbor during WWII as well as in the The Korean Conflict.
