                  The Shelby County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on May 15, 2018 at 2 P. M. in the Shelby County Museum at 230 Pecan Street. The guest speaker this month will be long time Center resident, Leon Aldridge. Leon is a native of Mount Pleasant in North East Texas with a 44 year career in communications that includes newspaper, marketing, public relations and education. He has twice served as Editor & Publisher of East Texas Light & Light & Champion newspapers in Center. His background includes newspaper group management, ownership & teaching communication courses at Stephen F. Austin University. He is a graduate of Mount Pleasant Texas High School, East Texas State University (now Texas A & M at Commerce) and Stephen F. Austin with post graduate work in journalism at University of North Texas. Aldridge's presentation is entitled “The Best Job in Town: The Catbird Seat for History's Adventures.” Everyone is invited to attend.
